Job description

We are looking to appoint two motivated & enthusiastic Archaeological Assistants to provide support to academic colleagues undertaking the Ribchester Revisited Archaeological project. This long running archaeological project is a joint venture between UCLan, Australia National University, Institute for Field Research and Ribchester Roman Museum. Lead by Drs James Morris and Duncan Sayer of UCLan.

The post holder will undertake archaeological excavation and aiding in archaeological post-excavation. This includes supporting group work with students and related duties derived from the work of academic staff of the project. All work will be undertaken under the guidance of academics leading the project.

The successful applicant will have experience of archaeological excavation in a university setting and experience of archaeological post-excavation processes including environment sampling. Experience of the Ribchester Revisited archaeological project is desirable.

The successful applicant will have a good honours degree (or equivalent) in Archaeology or related discipline and have proven practical skills in archaeological excavation & recording. Knowledge of roman archaeology is essential.

You will have good communication & self-organisation skills and the ability to work effectively and efficiently as an individual and as a member of a team.
