Research Assistant or Research Associate in Microbiology

The School of Population Health and Environmental Sciences ( is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant or Research Associate in Microbiology to work on a 12-month funded project to develop radiolabelled siderophores for novel molecular imaging and treatment of vascular (endo) graft infections. The interdisciplinary collaboration involves combining knowledge and approaches from the academic supervisors' labs to material from the collaborating organisations, to assess/develop microbiological assays or tools to detect infection and combat antimicrobial resistance.

You will have a MSc in Microbiology (for Research Assistant) or PhD in Microbiology (for Research Associate). Experience with radionuclides or nuclear medicine would be an advantage but is not essential as training will be provided. Knowledge of, skills in and experience with bacteria and molecular biology techniques and a keen interest in this subject area will be required. The role is to conduct individual and collaborative research that encompasses the entire process from experimental design to data presentation and as relevant, dissemination.

This post will be offered on a Fixed-Term Contract for 12 months (until 30th April 2020). 

This is a full-time post. 

The selection process will include a panel interview and an assessment.
