We are looking for a Director, Experiential Course Support to join the Teaching & Learning department, which supports faculty and students in co-creating a transformational learning experience that equips and inspires the next generation of leaders. Collectively the department supports professors with learning design and educational technology, the development of course materials and cases, speaker engagement, experiential course logistics, student coaching and facilitation services, and more. The Director will lead the Experiential Course Support group which contributes to a vast array of highly interactive experiential courses including the school’s acclaimed “Touchy Feely” course.

The Director will also launch a new action based educational offering for MBA and Master’s degree students. The new learning program is an innovative learning experience where teams of students learn by working on real challenges provided by a variety of organizations under the guidance of world renowned faculty. The learning experience aims to achieve a deep and relevant mastery of the state of the art tools to address said challenges with the added benefit of providing insights to said organizations as well as exposing them to the strength of the GSB student population. The program will be constructed to support multiple verticals each led by a faculty member who is a world renowned leader in the field.

This position will report to the Assistant Dean & Director, Teaching & Learning and will work under the general direction of a Faculty Director in service of the professors teaching in the new action based program. The Director will focus on the creation and design of the program, its development and growth. The Director will be in charge of facilitating, sourcing and managing the relationships with the organizations providing the projects and will serve as the center point of coordination between faculty, organizations and the student teams. The Director will be in charge of articulating the value proposition of the program to students and will oversee its execution, in particular all operational aspects of the program, as well as support the educational experience.

Manage program-related staff assigned to academic programs and projects, while also managing all aspects of program development, implementation, and evaluation.

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership direction to assigned staff in the program area, and oversee subordinate staff with program responsibility.
  • Design, develop, and oversee implementation of the most complex programs. Devise and implement vision, strategy, goals, and resource development in consultation with faculty director. Assess entity/program efficacy. Shape development of research and/or teaching programs. Provide guidance to program staff or instructors.
  • Define the overall activities of research/ teaching program(s), allocate appropriate staffing and other resources to achieve objectives. Develop and direct related policy. Provide strategic and financial advice to faculty director and/or senior management. Coordinate grant proposal submissions.
  • Develop, maintain, and control the financial budget related to program(s); shape financial strategy and long-range financial planning.
  • Serve as the principal advocate with foundations, funding, and gift sources.
  • Be flexible to completing any other additional assigned duties.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • Advanced degree or combination of relevant education, training, and/or experience. Typically, five or more years of relevant experience in area of specialization and five or more years relevant experience managing staff. Experience managing a budget and developing financial plans, program partnerships and funding sources.
  • Ability to develop program partnerships and funding sources.
  • Advanced oral, written and analytical skills exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets and develop financial plans.
  • Great communications and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to relate to diverse constituents including students, staff, faculty, and industry professionals
  • Deep project management expertise
  • Understanding of and curiosity for pedagogy
  • Familiarity with the academic environment and the MBA student culture
  • Ability to oversee and direct staff.
