The successful candidate will be responsible for wet lab genomic analyses of tumour tissue in the Breast Cancer Genetics group led by Professor Elinor Sawyer.
The research will focus on progression of in situ breast cancer to invasive breast cancer.
The main responsibility of the post-holder will be genomic profiling of archival tissue samples collected through the UK National DCIS Audit (Sloane Project) in order to identify biomarkers of invasive progression. This work is part of a CRUK Grand Challenge Grant - PRECISION (https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/funding-for-researchers/how-we-deliver-research/grand-challenge-award/funded-teams-wesseling). The post holder will work closely with researchers in the PRECISION consortium at the Netherlands Cancer Institute.
The post holder will be expected to work independently. The role will include database management, micro-dissection and extraction of DNA and RNA from archival tissue and preparation of DNA and RNA for down stream analyses such as targeted sequencing, whole exome / genome sequencing, RNA-seq, methylation and SNP arrays. The post holder will gain experience in the analysis of such data supported by a bioinformatician.
This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 1 year funded by Cancer Research UK (post can run for up to 3 years subject to annual review by CRUK)
This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent
The selection process will include a panel interview.
