The People and Organisational Development (P&OD) Department has evolved significantly over the past few years, moving from an operationally based HR focussed service to an integrated strategic business partner model encompassing all strands of P&OD. There are 3 teams within P&OD – the Leadership and Development Foundation, the Business Service team and the Resourcing, Operations and Business Partner team. We currently have a number of new roles in the Resourcing, Operations and Business Partner team where the successful applicants can make an immediate and positive impact on the services we deliver to our circa 3,000 employees.

The Higher Education sector is facing change, but we believe this change offers opportunity for institutions such as LJMU. This is an exciting time to join the University; not only did we recently celebrate our 25th anniversary (though our origins date back to 1823 and the foundation of the Liverpool Mechanics’ and Apprentices’ library and Institute) but we have recently launched our 2017-2022 Strategic Plan, which renews our commitment to working as a pioneering modern civic university. Our 2017-22 People Plan builds on the successes of our previous strategic plan and gives us a platform to deliver real change to our employees.

This is a new vacancy for the Department and is something of a hybrid role; the person we are looking for will be a specialist in Resourcing but also have an interest in HR transactional activity and a track record in process improvement. The role holder will directly line manage 2 Team Leaders who are responsible for the supervision of the Resourcing team and the HR Co-ordinator team. Reporting in to the Head of HR Resourcing and Operations, the successful applicant will work closely with our HR Business Partners and have both a strategic and operations portfolio. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to make a difference to the way we work and the way we manage the employee lifecycle, particularly in how we attract potential employees.

As a department we are flexible working friendly and are open to the option of the role being done on a job share or part time basis.
