Position Overview:

The Research School of Finance, Actuarial Studies and Statistics (RFSAS) in the College of Business and Economics is the academic home of Statistics at the Australian National University. The Biological Data Science Institute (BDSI) is a new cross-college academic unit that aims to recruit, build and coordinate expertise at the interface of biological science and data science to accelerate the translation of data to domain knowledge. This position is continuing in RSFAS with an initial five-year term within BDSI.

The BDSI is in its establishment phase and promises to be an exemplar for collaborative campus initiatives. The successful applicant will thus have a unique opportunity to help shape the trajectory of interdisciplinary science at a top-tier institution. With this opportunity comes the expectation of leadership in addition to teaching, collaboration and world-class research. These activities and responsibilities extend beyond the initial BDSI appointment and encompass the positioning of Statistics as a discipline and an enabling science.

You will be able to demonstrate your strong leadership and collaborative expertise in the space of statistical science and biological data to help shape the future of the BDSI which is an exciting new establishment at ANU. The institute will see you develop and maintain effective, productive and beneficial workplace relationships within all academic and professional staff, students and honorary appointees, as well as with industry stakeholders.
