Applications are invited for a Laboratory Technician Grade 5 in the Department of Biosciences, to join the staff of DBS Genomics and facilitate the running and development of our DNA sequencing facility. The technician will be trained in the running of the ABI 3730 and Illumina 2500 sequencers, and will contribute to our well-established service for Sanger DNA sequencing and fragment genotyping. The successful applicant will have experience in laboratory practice and working as part of a team. Laboratory Practice includes experience and knowledge of relevant biological experiments and equipment, a very good understanding of Health and Safety regulations and their implementation, and a very good understanding of laboratory and equipment maintenance, and knowledge of the boundaries of a safe working environment.

The post is a maternity cover position and is fixed term for 12 months.
