Responsibilities*
The postdoc will engage with the PI and other members of the PIs group in furthering our understanding of "rotational tropical disturbances", which includes easterly waves, equatorial Rossby waves and monsoon low-pressure systems. The postdoc will use novel theoretical considerations along with statistical techniques to understand the processes that lead to precipitation in these systems and how it interacts with the large-scale circulation. This goal will be achieved through the use of observations, reanalysis, and theory.The postdoc will also obtain experience in the writing of grant proposals, mentoring (within the context of groups meetings) in addition to career counseling. Presentations and publications are expected and will be supported by the PI's grant.
Required Qualifications*
PhD in Atmospheric Sciences or related discipline Familiarity with tropical meteorology Strong record of research
Desired Qualifications*
Strong background in mathematics Experience with linear regression and compositing Communication skills
