Research Assistant / Research Associate in Health Informatics

Department : Department of Population Health Sciences

Applications are invited for a Research Assistant or Research Associate position to investigate informatics aspects of reproducibility in Learning Health Systems by extending the Biomedical Informatics Group's data provenance and decision support microservice technologies to be used in three decision support exemplars: a CRUK-funded project on early cancer detection in primary care, an NIHR project on reducing antibiotic prescriptions in primary care, and an evidence/guideline management system with NICE.

CRUK Cancer-DSS project aims to develop a proof of concept decision-support system to assist in early detection of cancer. As a first step, the system will assist in data capture through iterative diagnostic suggestions to the clinician, in order to improve their recording of symptoms. The related antibiotic reduction version of the system will work on detecting cues for conditions that do not request an antibiotic treatment and communicating this to the clinician.

The successful candidate will elicit requirements, perform required modelling and adapt the current implementations of the decision support system and the provenance infrastructure.

The post holder will have a MSc in Health Informatics or related discipline for Research Assistant or PhD in Health Informatics or related discipline for Research Associate. Previous track record in decision support systems and/or data provenance is desirable, but not essential. Software development skills are a must. The candidate will be expected to have publications in journals and/or conferences.

The candidate will be based in the School of Population Health and Environmental Sciences at the Guy's campus of King's College London.

This post will be a fixed-term contract until 31st December 2020
This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent.
The selection process will include competency based questions, a presentation and a panel interview.
