Department : Medical & Molecular Genetics

The Department of Medical & Molecular Genetics is located in Guy's hospital and uses cutting-edge technologies and analysis techniques to explore the mechanistic basis of disease, improve diagnostics and understand the epigenetic mechanisms of gene regulation and RNA processing, working from whole population level to complex and rare disease genomes

The Department is led by Professor Tim Hubbard and comprises 18 research groups.

This post combines management and laboratory skills to ensure the safe running of department. It would be an ideal position for someone with a research background as well as experience in laboratory management. The appointee will be the Local Safety Officer for the department and ensure all staff, students and visitors receive appropriate induction to the department. They will oversee the maintenance of equipment and provide specialist technical advice to researchers. They will also act as the main liaison between researchers, estates personnel and contractors. They will closely work with the Department's Operations Officer to provide administrative support; receipt of deliveries, access for visitors and managing general enquiries.

A research background in molecular biology and experience of working in embedded NHS Trust space would be an advantage.
