Aston University in collaboration with Rayner Intraocular Lenses Ltd are seeking to appoint a research associate to run a project designing and building novel mechanical systems to test biological tissue. You will be a mechanical/design/biomedical engineering graduate with at least an MSc, ideally with experience of working with biological materials. You will have experience designing (using CAD), building, prototyping and testing under laboratory conditions high-accuracy, small-scale mechanical systems; Ideally you will also be proficient in programming in high level languages such as Matlab and/ or LabVIEW with the ability to port into lower level systems (C++, Python etc.) being an advantage. Experience of working/leadership within a multidisciplinary project team and the ability to understand, digest and disseminate complex concepts is essential
The project will be based in Worthing, but with substantial time in Birmingham in the first 9 months (costs covered)
