Aston University School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) is consistently ranked highly in the UK for engineering-related disciplines. Our research strengths are diverse, multidisciplinary in nature and are designed to promote solutions to practical problems.

The Mathematics Group in the School of Engineering and Applied Science is seeking to make two appointments at a Professorial level. The appointments will play major leadership roles in the Mathematics group and in the System Analytics Research Institute. While candidates from all fields would be considered, preference would be given to the broad areas of machine learning, probabilistic data modelling, data science and mathematical modelling. We are seeking strong and enthusiastic applicants with a proven international research profile and academic leadership skills.

One of the new appointees will be leading the Mathematics group (similar to Head of Department) in delivering our quality applied mathematics degree programmes at undergraduate and graduate levels as well as overseeing the online delivery of postgraduate and work-based Data Science courses such as the Rolls-Royce Digital Academy Data Science programme. They will have the opportunity to continue developing their own research and engage externally in both academic and industrial networks. Information on the teaching activities can be found at http://www1.aston.ac.uk/eas/about-eas/academic-groups/mathematics/.
