Software Architect in Medical Engineering

Department : Biomedical Engineering

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic software architect with knowledge of deep learning, computational modelling and computational medical imaging to join the Wellcome/EPSRC Centre for Medical Engineering within an internationally leading university research School. The aim of the project is to harmonise, design and help maintain a portfolio of research software. The successful applicant will also be helping to promote coding best practices amongst researchers within the School and will take a leading role in promoting open-source software supported by the School.

The software architect will oversee the implementation of a software strategy for the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences at King's College London. This involves a thorough initial review of the existing software that has been developed to date, with the aim of harmonising and, where appropriate, consolidating existing software, and helping to establish best practice. It also involves integrating the current software into a common platform to reduce duplication while expanding functionalities. The successful applicant will also liaise with the other software developers and will assist them in executing the overall strategy. This role will give the successful applicant to engage in cutting edge research, in a field that requires deep understanding of software engineering.

The successful candidate will have a graduate degree in computer science or a closely related field. They will be able to demonstrate good algorithmic and software development skills. They will also be able to demonstrate strong experience in compiled and interpreted programming language such as C++ and Python respectively.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract 2 years.

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent.

The selection process will include a panel interview, an assessment.
