NoWFOOD is a state of the art research and development facility for the food and drink sector located on the main campus of the University of Chester. Our main purpose at the NoWFOOD Centre is to work with SME companies for new product development, market access and innovation, playing a key part in the growth of the vibrant food and drink community in the North West region. A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to work in this facility as a Kitchen Manager, working with NoWFOOD customers to support them to develop, produce and scale up their products whilst advising on and ensuring adherence to food safety standards and maintaining high quality performance of the kitchens, equipment and storage areas.
You will join the NoWFOOD team and be responsible for providing an excellent commercial service to SME food and drink companies for innovation, new product development or reformulation, nutritional and other analytical services and sensory / consumer testing. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Development, Production and Sensory kitchens to ensure that they are safe, clean and fully operational. You will also use your creative flair and knowledge of food to advise clients on their products or processes as appropriate, train users on new equipment, carry out competency assessments for kitchen users to ensure safety compliance, and keep records accordingly.
You will be have a food related Degree or equivalent, be food safety trained and have experience of working in a commercial kitchen or food manufacturing environment. You will possess good people skills, displaying the confidence to engage with and build working relationships with clients. You will have excellent computer literacy, communication and interpersonal skills, be a strong team worker, and have an enthusiastic and proactive approach to work.
