Clinical Research Associate
Department : Psychosis Studies
The successful candidates will play a key role in innovative studies investigating new approaches to treating schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The post also involves clinical sessions at the TREAT service at the Maudsley Hospital. This will involve the assessment and management of patients with psychotic disorders, and the implementation of second and third line treatments.
The studies involve the collection of clinical, proteomic, immune and multimodal neuroimaging (MRI & PET & MEG) data and clinical assessment to determine response to treatment in patients. One of the studies involves a test of a novel treatment approach to target the biology underlying positive symptoms, whilst the other involves a test of a novel treatment approach for negative symptoms.
Working closely with the Lead Investigators, the successful candidate will ensure the successful conduct and completion of the research programme. The post holder will contribute to the collection and analysis of data and play a key role in the assessment and monitoring of patients, which will constitute clinical sessions and may count towards training. The post holder will also work closely with other research staff in the project and foster effective collaborative working relationships with the local early intervention services for psychosis. The successful candidate will also be encouraged to develop their own research interests.
The group conducts research into the role and interactions of a number of brain systems in processes relevant to mental disorders and their treatment, and the post-holder may also contribute to these studies as well.
Please note this is clinical post - with direct patient contact and GMC registration as an essential requirement. Please include GMC registration on the application.
The post would be ideal for a clinician with an interest in cutting edge neuroimaging and psychopharmacology. There is potential to develop a project for an MD/PhD for a suitable candidate.
This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 1 years.
This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent
The selection process will include a panel interview and an assessment.
