College Houses brings together undergraduates, faculty, staff, and graduate students to form vibrant residential communities within the larger context of our renowned urban campus. Our mission is to bring the academic life of the classroom into our living spaces. We have roughly 5,600 residents in total, and twelve houses. The architectural styles vary from 24-story modern high-rises with over 800 residents to smaller, 4-story brick Houses with 170 residents. This Application Developer position serves as a developer for the College Houses and Academic Services. Duties: Application Developer A: Under the direction of a Senior Application Developer: Create, develop, and deploy applications in both the JavaScript/NodeJS/SQL Server, PHP/MySQL, and legacy environments. Administrate full development environments with full QA and deployment protocols; Design interfaces focusing on the end user’s experience and ease of use. Organize, plan, and lead projects. Create documentation supporting development process and redundancy. Assist in monitoring, administering and maintaining all systems crucial to the division – ensuring optimal up time to core constituency. Contribute to evaluating new software technologies and improving the College Houses and Academic Services IT infrastructure. Ensure adherence to Security and Privacy Impact Assessments, and ISC technical requirements for University IT properties. Under limited supervision of the Senior Application Developer, the Application Developer B carries out all of the responsibilities above and: Takes ownership of application deployment when technical lead including building team schedules and communicating outcomes.

Application Developer A: A Bachelor’s Degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Solid understanding of object-oriented programming practices (minimum 1 OOP language), modern web development practice and server-side scripting. Strong knowledge of Javascript and command of JavaScript as a full web stack programming language with asynchronous function calls. Knowledge of web technologies such as HTML5 and CSS3. Understanding of RDBMS, MS-SQL and/or SQL Server tools. Familiarity with command line tools for server maintenance and development. Willingness to learn and support existing legacy platforms, including ColdFusion, and assist with supporting the Drupal CMS. Existing knowledge a plus. Excellent communication, organizational ability, with a fine attention to detail. Technical writing skills. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive materials, to work independently and as part of a team and to simultaneously manage multiple assignments of varying durations.

Application Developer B: Same qualifications as above and a Bachelor’s Degree and 1 to 3 years of programming experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
