The appointment will be on UCL Grade 8. The salary range will be £43,884 - £51,469 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
The purpose of an IT Service Manager is to undertake customer relationship management within the department(s) or Institute(s) for which they provide IT support. For this role the IT support area primarily covers the Faculty of Medical Sciences and other associated departments.
You will represent IT for SLMS in departmental meetings and will take responsibility for IT for SLMS-related issues escalated within your department/Institute. You will convey the ethos and values of IT for SLMS in your capacity as local ambassador, promoting IT for SLMS activities and answering on behalf of ISD. You will also be expected to take ownership of issues that have been escalated and to delegate within the local team or other parts of IT for SLMS as appropriate.
You will have line and task management responsibilities for other IT for SLMS staff and will lead and manage the local team assigned to the role and you will also report to and be accountable to the Head of IT for Faculty of Medical Science.
It is essential that you should have significant experience in an IT service delivery role together with a customer focused approach. The ability to lead both day to day support operations as well as the Faculty’s program of change improvements and innovations is key, as is a strong technical background. Relevant technologies include client devices (both PCs, & Macs) & associated peripherals, Windows desktop/server operating systems and VMware virtualisation.
You should also have excellent problem solving skills and experience of managing a team is essential.
