Salary package: $111,621- $125,642 per annum plus 17% superannuation

This is a unique opportunity to manage a Centre of Excellence at one of Australia’s leading universities in a broad, exciting and challenging position.
The Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for All Sky Astrophysics in 3-Dimensions (ASTRO 3D) is a $40M collaborative research Centre that encourages collaboration between university researchers at the administering and collaborating organisations, as well as operating education and outreach activities nationwide to engage students and the general public in STEM.
The Centre, led from the ANU Mount Stromlo facilities in Canberra by Professor Lisa Kewley, spans six (6) Australian universities, three (3) national infrastructure facilities, and seven (7) international partner institutions. ASTRO-3D combines Australia's leading optical, infrared and radio telescope technologies with sophisticated theoretical simulations and ambitious new data intensive science techniques to build a comprehensive picture of the evolution of matter, the chemical elements, and ionizing radiation in the Universe from the Epoch of Reionization to the present day.
ASTRO 3D is seeking an enthusiastic Chief Operations Officer (COO) to lead the administration and operations of the Centre. The Chief Operations Officer plays a central leadership role in positioning ASTRO 3D as a recognised national and international leader in astronomy and astrophysics.
Working with a considerable degree of autonomy, the Chief Operations Officer is responsible for governance, operations and relationship management of ASTRO 3D, and ensures the Centre’s strategic objectives are met through the appropriate design, delivery and evaluation of research, training, and education/outreach programs. International partnership development, marketing and event management are also critical aspects of the role.
To be successful in this is role you will hold relevant qualifications and have a proven history of leadership, engagement, and achievement in a similar role. You will have strong leadership skills with a track record of developing strategy for communicating and consulting with government and non-government organisations, internal and external stakeholders, professional bodies, academic bodies and the community. You will have expertise in high level planning, financial, human resource and project management, coupled with outstanding analytical, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work as part of an executive team in a strategic planning and operational management capacity.
