The National Oceanography Centre Trustees
The National Oceanography Centre (NOC) is the UK’s largest multi-disciplinary centre for research and management of data assets for oceanographic sciences. As a leader in big ocean science, our research and large scale scientific capabilities are world leading in tackling the big scientific questions about the marine environment. We work collaboratively with partners in academia, industry, governments and other marine institutions both nationally and internationally.
Historically, we have been part of the Natural Environmental Research Council (NERC), itself now a part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), but currently are in the process of gaining status as an independent charitable body and a standalone research institute with our own governance structures. This is to enable us to be more agile and financially more resilient, with the flexibility to explore new opportunities and partnerships to support our mission in delivering the science we are renowned for.
We are seeking to appoint several new Non-Executive Trustees with skills and expertise to complement our existing Board and support NOC on our journey of independence by contributing strategically and advising on our future development.
We are especially keen on attracting individuals with skills and expertise in one or a combination of the following:
- Relevant research/scientific profile
- Research infrastructure
- Marine sector/ships
- Relevant technologies/IT
If you have an affinity to our mission and would like to contribute to an organisation that is committed to tackling the big scientific questions about the marine environment, please contact Odgers Berndtson to further explore your interest.
