Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Chemistry (Ref.: 494047), to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or equivalent, with experience in organic and inorganic synthesis, transition metal catalyzed asymmetric organic transformation reactions, and characterization of reactive intermediates involved in the catalytic reactions. They should have fluency in written and spoken English, a strong sense of responsibility, good organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and be self-motivated.

The appointee will be engaged in the preparation of chiral group 8 metalloporphyrin catalysts, study of their catalytic activity towards group transfer reactions, and the isolation and characterization of the reactive metal-carbene and -imido intermediates under the supervision of Professor Chi-Ming Che.  Enquiries about the duties of the post should be sent to Dr. Vanessa Lo at vkylo@hku.hk.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
