The role sits within The College of Design and Social Context encompasses RMIT University's renowned art, communication, built environment, design, education and social science disciplines and is comprised of nine Schools. The College has 24,500 students and 1,000 staff.

The School of Vocation Design and Social context delivers a range of educational programs from certificates, diplomas, Advanced Diplomas to Associate Degree and industry training.

The School consists of three Industry Clusters:

  • Media, Art and Communication (including Visual Arts, Media, Writing and Photography)
  • Design and Technology (including Building Design, Industrial Design, Communication Design, Fashion Design, Fashion & Textile Technology, Interior Design and Enterprise/Merchandising)
  • Social Futures (including Social Care, Translating & Interpreting and Tertiary, preparatory education (LLN & TAE))

As a program leader, and part of a leadership team you will contribute to the development and implementation of the school's strategic and business plans.

As the Program Manager VE Fashion and textiles you will be required to, lead and manage a team of teaching staff who deliver teaching programs in vocational education qualification. With a professional and effective manner displaying a focus on belonging, student well being and graduate outcomes. Ensure that programs and services in your area address current and emerging needs of both students and industry. This includes conducting regular program reviews and making improvements in program content, student assessment methods and in program delivery.

You will be required to manage program delivery requirements including budgets, staffing, business administration and university and key financial stakeholders regarding reporting and compliance. The role also includes you participating proactively in the student recruitment, selection, counselling, recognition of prior learning and with student induction.

Skills & Experience Required

The successful applicant will have experience in managing vocational programs within a design or creative discipline. You will possess excellent management and leadership skills, to lead a team of educators to develop and deliver quality vocational education qualifications in the areas of Fashion Technology, Textile design & Development plus Fashion styling across training package and associate degree qualifications. Your ability to lead a team in a positive, influential and engaged manner that empowers them to achieve targeted results and work effectively, will be critical to this role. Furthermore, you will have demonstrated commitment to a culture of team leadership, vocational education compliance and continuous improvement, including the identification and implementation of process improvements to enable a positive student learning experience.

Qualifications

You will have:

  • A minimal educational qualification of Diploma of Vocational education or equivalent.
  • A fashion and/or textile qualification that is deemed equivalent to an AQTF level 7, this can include relevant fashion and/or Textile experience
