Contract Type:      Permanent
Closing Date:      Thursday 21 March 2019
Interview Date:      To be confirmed

Greenwich Learning and Teaching (GiLT) fosters learning and teaching excellence across the university by offering co-ordinated leadership and support of quality assurance and enhancement; a portfolio of development activity; and a forum for staff and student engagement with the learning and teaching agenda. The Lecturer in HE Learning and Teaching contributes to the academic and curriculum development activities of GiLT, as well as cross-disciplinary activities such as the quality enhancement of programmes and institutional innovation projects, according to your areas of specialism and competence. An appointment as Senior Lecturer will be made where the candidate has made a substantive original contribution to the field of HE learning and teaching, and will involve additional management and leadership responsibilities as appropriate to the role. Duties and responsibilities will typically include:

  • Teaching on the PGCertHE and other taught programmes, including acting as module leader where appropriate.
  • Contributing to the GOLD recognition scheme and other professional development opportunities such as GiLT’s programme of events and workshops.
  • Contributing to curriculum design and development provision, including programmes such as PACE and TESTA, and advice and support for programme approval and review (in partnership with the quality team).
  • Participating in strategic projects and policy developments, including a lead role according to areas of expertise.
  • Providing tailored support, advice and guidance to Departments, Schools and Faculties according to areas of expertise.

You will undertake the normal range of responsibilities for academic staff on the learning and teaching pathway, including relevant teaching, scholarship and development activities in GiLT and the wider university. If appointed as Senior Lecturer, the role holder will assume lead responsibility for one or more areas of GiLT activity as outlined above.

You will have demonstrable experience of effective teaching in HE including curriculum design and development; a comprehensive understanding of the scholarship of learning and teaching, and of developments and trends in HE learning and teaching; and a strong understanding and experience of supporting the development of staff who teach and support learning HE. You will have excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills; scholarship, research and evaluation skills; and an ability to model good practices in learning and teaching to staff and students across the university. You will hold a PhD, PGCertHE, and Fellow (or Senior/Principal Fellow) of the HEA or equivalent. Candidates for Senior Lecturer will additionally have a track record of effective academic leadership, and of contributing to the scholarship of learning and teaching (including publications and grant capture), in a relevant area.
