An opportunity has arisen within the School of Nursing for a mental health nurse to join our highly committed Mental Health team as full time Senior Lecturer. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic and visionary, keen to shape mental health education and research and influence the lives of people with mental health problems.
Applicants must be registered as a First Level Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (part 1 Mental Health), be educated to Masters level in a Health related subject and hold a teaching qualification at post graduate level. A PhD /professional doctorate is also desirable.
Evidence of advanced practice and leadership as well as curriculum development experience are essential and you'll have a keen interest in developments in the field. Enthusiastic, innovative and creative, you'll be committed to the success of your students and be able to show that you can effectively support learning and teaching in the classroom, by e-learning and in practice areas. Experience in higher education and/ or the teaching and assessing of student nurses in practice is essential as is experience of mentorship, supervision and support of mental health students.
The successful applicant will assist in the development and delivery of the mental health curricula including the pre-registration programme, post graduate studies and research. Therefore effective time management, planning and organisation skills are core requirements for success in this position. There will be also an expectation that the successful applicant will teach across a range of courses and will be required to act as course and / or module leader.
