Job description

The Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Computing at Coventry University is one of the largest in the UK and is nationally and internationally renowned as a centre of innovation for its teaching, learning and research of computing subject areas. The School of Computing, Electronics and Mathematics is one of three schools within the faculty and has a very successful suite of courses supported by excellent staff, teaching facilities and laboratories. The school is responsible for the development of a thriving portfolio of teaching and research. Two of our offered courses lead to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The taught modules have both theoretical and practical aspects. So, we are interested in employing a new Technical Skills Instructor in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. However, experience in other areas such as power is desirable since part of role is the support of individual student projects.

You will be responsible for the educational electrical and electronic lab of Coventry University. This means setup and preparation of lab exercises to be undertaken by students of different levels. Moreover, you will provide maintenance and repair of faulty lab equipment. Furthermore, you will be responsible for purchasing consumables and instrumentation.

During the lab, you will be responsible for supervising groups of students while getting measurements. Safety during the lab testing is a primary concern. So,you will be required to instruct students about safety in the lab and how to undertake their measurements reliably and safely.

Part of the role is to support final year students and postgraduate students with their individual projects. This included various tasks such as 3D printing, metal constructions and electronics topologies and boards printing. PhD students may also seek your support in order to build their test beds.

As one of Coventry's biggest employers we will provide an excellent benefits package and a personal and professional development programme that will help you to achieve your aspirations.
