Apply your engaging teaching style to facilitate the successful transition of new students to university study.

Charles Darwin University (CDU) is ranked 43rd in the top 250 universities under 50 years of age in the world and is identified by Times Higher Education as one of an elite global group of rising stars, a new generation of challenger universities quickly rising in world rankings.

The College of Education (College) delivers teaching and research in education, foundation programs and academic language and literacy. Our foundation programs provide students with the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to succeed at university, and our education programs enable students to specialise in early childhood, primary, secondary and tertiary education and training. Education graduates teach in childcare facilities, pre-schools, and primary, middle and high schools.

As Lecturer Academic Foundations you provide academic skills and knowledge development and support to students through the delivery of units as offered by the College. This will include contributing to teaching, and where required, coordination of the units, which aim to develop student’s practical academic skills, including critical thinking, reading, researching and writing among other priorities.

You require a doctoral level qualification (or current enrolment and progress towards completion) in a related field, and a demonstrated understanding of adult learning, academic literacies, enabling and equity programs, and providing supportive education to people of diverse linguistic, and cultural and age groups.

All applications must include a resume, cover letter and statement addressing the ‘Essential Competencies’ contained within the Position Profile (link above).

For a confidential discussion please contact Professor Greg Shaw, Dean, College of Education 08 8946 6806 or email greg.shaw@cdu.edu.au
