Applications are invited for this strategically critical role in the Faculty of Science and Engineering for appointment in summer 2019. You will provide the academic leadership and management to ensure that the Department makes a full contribution towards the objectives of the School of Engineering, the Faculty and the University. The role offers an exciting opportunity to join a highly motivated and successful Faculty to increase research and teaching capacity/capability and deliver innovation in all areas.

We seek an ambitious and effective individual with a proven track record in their field. We are looking for an innovative leader, able to lead a cohesive, constructive, effective and inclusive team to the highest of standards. A proven track record of managing diverse resources in a university environment is essential and previous experience as a Head of Department or School (or an equivalent unit) would be an advantage.

You will hold a substantive post as Professor of Engineering. Salary and a competitive start-up package are by negotiation, with scope to fully recognise applicants of the very highest standing. The post also carries a non-superannuable responsibility allowance of £7,000 per annum for the Head of Department role which will be for a period of three years in the first instance, renewable subject to agreement.
