Senior Lecturer/Postgraduate Clinical Programmes Development Lead

£53,175 - £65,362 pa (for Grade 9)

Salary negotiable, commensurate with NHS salary (for clinical staff at consultant level)

Applications are invited from Academics or Clinical Academics who have a particular interest and experience in Medical Postgraduate Academic Development for this exciting role in the School of Medicine.

Reporting to the Vice-Dean of the School, you will actively contribute to the development of the vision and strategic direction for postgraduate taught (PGT) provision and will provide academic leadership to the postgraduate team.  You will work to promote excellence in learning and teaching to ensure a high-quality student experience that is research-led and globally-orientated and ensure that the academic provision meets student, professional and institutional requirements.

You will bring senior knowledge and experience of an educational field (ideally medical or clinically related education), understanding and experience of the application of a variety of teaching methods and settings and the design and application of assessment and innovation in education, together with prior expertise in leading others to deliver effective education and inspire engagement in education-related work.

To apply you should have a track record in academic leadership in postgraduate education, and of working across a multi-professional environment.  Extensive experience in working in medical education, or a related field and a PhD in a relevant discipline (or equivalent) is also required.  For clinical appointments, you should have full GMC Registration and MD or PhD or equivalent publication record.  You should also be a Substantive Consultant / Clinical Academic / Senior GP principal with relevant experience and a Senior Postgraduate Qualification e.g. Fellowship of Royal College.

You will have opportunities to participate in pedagogic research projects in line with the strategic research interests of the school.

The role is expected to require 1FTE of time. However, it is expected that clinical academics would retain up to 2 sessions of clinical practice.
