The University of Nottingham is one of the UK's leading research universities. We are pleased to offer two apprentice trainee animal technician posts. These will provide the successful applicants with an opportunity to gain practical experience and theoretical knowledge in laboratory animal technology while working with a range of laboratory animal species (including rodents, aquatics and farm animal species).  

The successful candidates must be able to demonstrate a vocational and responsible approach to working with animals. Candidates must be able to undertake basic husbandry and welfare duties relating to the animals in their care in this physically demanding role. 

Candidates should hold 4 GCSE’s Grade C or above (or equivalent) in Maths, English and a science subject. An additional animal husbandry or animal welfare qualification would be an asset.

Note: Successful candidates, must obtain the Institute of Animal Technology Level 2 Diploma in Laboratory Science and Technology within 12 months of appointment.

Hours of work are 36.25, Monday to Friday inclusive. Weekend and Bank Holiday working is required on a rota basis. The posts will be offered on a full time, one year contract.
