The UNSW Graduate Research School (GRS) is responsible for managing Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates and supervisors. The GRS provides leadership, support and central administration for this cohort within the UNSW research community, as well as the research training leaders who work with them.

The GRS also supports strategic HDR programs including the flagship UNSW 2025 Strategy Scientia PhD Scholarship Scheme and Industry-engaged initiatives.

About the role

  • $ 85,326 - $ 91,023 (Plus 17% Super)
  • 3 Year Fixed Term

The successful candidate is responsible for co-ordination of projects and providing support to the Manager HDR Strategic Programs Team for the development and implementation of new HDR specialised programs. This position works across the GRS and with external stakeholders to develop and implement new programs and processes. The position will also be responsible for a number of ongoing projects and will include some weekend and after-hours work.

 Specific responsibilities for this role include:

  • Provide project and administrative support to the Manager in the ongoing recruitment cycle for the preapplication EOI process for Scientia PhD scholarship scheme
  • Coordinate the delivery of the CSIRO – UNSW Industry PhD scholarship program in consultation with the Manager, including coordination of information sessions
  • Be responsible for the coordination of workshops and events, including catering, room bookings, liaison with stakeholders, routine correspondence, Eventbrite bookings, management of registrations, coordination of feedback surveys and other duties as required. Some weekend and out of hours work will be required.

About the successful applicant

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and project experience or an equivalent level of knowledge and experience gained through a combination of relevant education and training.
  • Demonstrated experience in project and events management including managing logistics, promotions and communications.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, including a demonstrated ability to deal with multiple tasks and manage conflicting deadlines, prioritise, plan work and deal with matters with sensitivity and discretion.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of a range of software packages including the MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Visio) and Survey Monkey, Qualtrics and Eventbrite.
  • The ability and willingness to work outside of normal working hours
