The Institute for Positive Psychology and Education (IPPE)  includes some of the most frequently cited researchers in the world such as Professors Herbert Marsh and Richard Ryan. IPPE conducts multi-disciplinary research to address educational and psychosocial issues, translate theory and research into effective policy and practice, and demonstrate how individuals, communities, and organisations flourish and thrive.

We are seeking a Professor to work with leading IPPE researchers - Professors Herb Marsh, Reinhard Pekrun, Philip Parker, Richard Ryan, and Jacquelynne Eccles - to strengthen the outstanding research performance of ACU in the field of education research.  

As Professor you will:

  • produce research outcomes of the highest quality both independently and/or in collaboration with others
  • submit high quality research grant applications
  • lead research projects and research teams
  • contribute to the strategic direction of the Institute through the development and implementation of Education research initiatives
  • assist staff in the preparation of citation and award applications
  • promote opportunities for research collaboration, nationally and internationally
  • attract and supervise high calibre higher degree research candidates.

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate:

  • a PhD in a relevant discipline
  • demonstrated achievement in producing highly-cited research publications in the most prestigious journals for the field of education e.g. American Educational Research Journal, Educational Researcher, Review of Educational Research
  • expertise in relevant quantitative research skills including structural equation modelling, longitudinal data modelling, and multilevel modelling
  • established record of securing, leading, and completing funded research projects that show methodological strength
  • successful record of supervision of early career researchers and PhD candidates.

This position involves child-related employment and a Working with Children clearance will be required.

Total remuneration valued to approximately $212,205 pa, including salary component $180,212 pa (Academic Classification Level E), plus employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
