Applications are invited for appointment as Temporary (40%) Research Officer (holding the title of Clinical Psychologist) in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration (Ref.: 494050), to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

The Department is conducting a student mental health and suicide prevention project in collaboration with other NGO partners in mental health services. It aims to conduct a school-based comprehensive mental health promotion and suicide prevention programme for youths in secondary schools and to develop a district-based professional support advisory network for parents, teachers and social workers.

Applicants should possess a Master's or Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology from a local university or equivalent.  They should have experience in working with students and youth suicide prevention; the ability to work independently and as a team; and be proficient in written and spoken in English and Chinese (including Cantonese). Those with experience in providing training and clinical supervision are preferred. The appointee will supervise and develop the professional support advisory network for gatekeepers; provide advice on professional training for teachers and social workers; take a lead role in the networking meetings and activities; conduct regular school visits and provide individual consultations to teachers and school social workers; assist Project Principal Investigator in managing, coordinating, and implementing the project on the development of sustainable student mental health services and suicide prevention services; and perform any other relevant tasks as assigned. There will be ample opportunities to work with school social workers, teachers and other mental health professionals, as well as stakeholders in the local community.
