The Opportunity

This position will suit a paediatrician or adolescent physician with enthusiasm for and experience in teaching as well as clinical research. Teaching will be at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The candidate must aspire to take an increasing role in leadership of teaching in adolescent health in Auckland and New Zealand. Previous research experience and the ability to acquire external research funding would be an advantage as would a higher research degree.

Counties Manukau Health provides health services to over 550,000 people and is regarded as one of the most progressive services in Australasia with initiatives aimed at developing 'whole of system' integrated care. The Centre for Youth Health is a community based secondary health care service, part of Kidz First Children's Hospital and Community Health.

Candidates must hold a medical qualification registerable in New Zealand and must have a higher qualification in Paediatrics equivalent to the Fellowship of the Royal Australasia College of Physicians (FRACP) with subspecialist training in Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine or equivalent and be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Research is also an important part of this role. You would be expected to develop research which addresses issues of relevance to adolescent health and well-being both in New Zealand and internationally.
