WEB DEVELOPER/SOFTWARE ENGINEER, Solve-Communications Team, to be responsible for running the Solve website and Challenge platform. Will manage day-to-day maintenance and updates on the site, lead an agile development process for iterating on the Solve website and platform, and support Solve staff and platform users.  Responsibilities will also include building the Solve Challenge platform into a SaaS platform available to partners; providing user support for the Solve website and platform and ensuring accessibility for all users; providing support to Solve staff as it relates to third-party sites and integrations like Mailchimp and Salesforce; collaborating with communications staff to translate best-in-class messaging, visuals, and video onto the Solve website; and other duties in site engineering and technology as needed.  

Solve is an MIT initiative that advances lasting solutions from tech entrepreneurs to address the world's most pressing problems. Solve issues four challenges each year to find the most promising teams to drive transformational change.  

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science or engineering; strong working knowledge of PHP, MySQL, CSS, JavaScript, HTML, and Git; at least three years’ web development experience; highly developed organizational skills; ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment; flexibility; ability to work independently, take initiative, and anticipate needs; and a portfolio of web development and software engineering work.  Experience with the following preferred:  Laravel or another PHP framework like Symfony or Zend; Sass, Less, or similar preprocessor; Amazon S3, Amazon CloudFront, and Heroku; and working through UX and translating visual designs onto a website. Job #17116-P
