BHF Centre Research Manager 
Department :    Cardiovascular Sciences

We seek to recruit an experienced research professional as Centre Research Manager for the King's British Heart Foundation (BHF) Centre of Research Excellence. 

King's successfully achieved a third round of BHF Research Excellence funding for the Centre, from April 2019 to March 2024. The Director of the King's BHF Centre is Prof Ajay Shah who holds a BHF Chair of Cardiology and is the Head of the School of Cardiovascular Medicine & Sciences in the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King's. Reporting to Prof Shah, the Centre Research Manager is a new dedicated post.

With a very strong background in science, the post-holder will play a pivotal role in research planning, implementation and management of Centre activities, as well as contributing to strategic development and policies in support of Centre objectives, and in response to the research and educational priorities identified by the Centre Steering Group.

Alongside overall operational coordination and management for the Centre, the post-holder will drive productive interactions between the participating research groups within King's and where appropriate with external partners. The post-holder will work with the King's Research Development Team which supports high quality, distinctive research with real impact, aligned with university strategy and funders' strategic priorities.

With a PhD in a biomedical discipline, the successful candidate must have excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills, with demonstrable experience of working at strategic level with academic research collaborations, commercial partners, and/or research funders. Managing and planning large-scale research and scientific activity, and experience of monitoring and complex projects and associated budgeting/funding is essential.

This post is initially offered on a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2024.

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent.

The selection process will include a panel interview and an assessment.
