Knowledge Transfer Partnerships

Location: Lincoln
Salary: From £27,000 pro rata
Closing Date: Sunday 03 March 2019
Interview Date: Friday 15 March 2019

The post has been created as a result of an exciting and innovative Knowledge Transfer Partnership (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/knowledge-transfer-partnerships-what-they-are-and-how-to-apply) between Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery Ltd (SITL https://www.siemens.co.uk/en/about_us/index/manufacturing/industrial-turbomachinery.htm and the School of Engineering in the College Science at the University of Lincoln (www.lincoln.ac.uk).

SITL design, manufacture and service small to medium industrial gas turbines (5 to 15 MW). Globally, SITL have installed a fleet of over 3,000 units across over 90 countries.

We are looking to recruit an engineer with a strong undergraduate and/or Masters degree in Engineering and/or Computer Science to undertake and manage a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), which has the overall aim of building and commissioning a new intelligent sensor system for the test and certification of sub 15 MW gas turbines. Programming experience in Python and Javascript languages is highly desirable, as well as experience of web client and server development. Research experience in signal processing and data-driven modelling is desirable. Professional experience is not necessary, however, knowledge of the turbomachinery industry would be an advantage.

The KTP Project Support will be employed by the University of Lincoln but be based at SITL’s Main Works site in Lincoln and subject to its employment practices and conditions of work. The successful candidate will be supervised both by SITL and the School of Engineering at the University of Lincoln.

This post is fixed term, and either part time (18.5 hours per week) for 10 months or full time (37 hours per week) for 5 months.

This position does not fulfil the UK Visas & Immigration sponsorship criteria for Tier 2.
