Role Description

Here at Cranfield, we can offer you the opportunity and resources to really develop your career.  Cranfield is an exclusively postgraduate university that is a global leader for education and transformational research in technology and management.

The Welding and Laser Processing Centre (WELPC) has 2 exciting opportunities for individuals keen to learn, and contribute to a vibrant exciting centre, involved in cutting edge research and education provision.  You will have the opportunity to work with 3D printing and robot operations in a Centre that has established internationally leading positions in the fields of additive manufacture, laser welding and processing, residual stress management and advanced arc welding processes.

Skilled technicians are crucial to our success. We are seeking to attract highly motivated individuals who are keen to develop and will have the ability and desire to work as part of a team to provide a premier technical provision to centre.

You will have achieved a full engineering apprenticeship or equivalent and a minimum of 2 A-levels in relevant subjects/equivalent vocational qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds), or have an equivalent level of experience. There will also be opportunities for learning and development for the successful candidates, to further develop their skills.

At Cranfield, we value Diversity and Inclusion, and aim to create and maintain a culture in which everyone can work and study together harmoniously with dignity and respect and realise their full potential. We actively consider flexible working options such as part-time, compressed or flexible hours and/or an element of homeworking, and commit to exploring the possibilities for each role.

As part of our commitment to support and develop Technical staff across the University, we have now also become a founding signatory of the Science Council's Technician Commitment. This is a sector wide, collaborative initiative led by the Science Council and supported by the 'Technicians Make It Happen' campaign, to ensure visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability for technicians working in higher education and research.
