The University of Nottingham Farm

Sutton Bonington Campus (Leicestershire)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our small, hard-working team at The University of Nottingham’s Centre for Dairy Science Innovation where we operate a leading edge dairy facility with up to 350 cows as well as youngstock reared on the farm. The dairy is a centre of excellence in the provision of education and research facilities for both the School of Biosciences and the School of Veterinary and Medical Science at the University and you will be working alongside our students and academics as well as the farm staff.

This role will require the successful candidate to independently manage their own workload and will involve both conventional animal husbandry and stockmanship duties undertaking all associated operations to ensure the highest standards are met at all times. You will also be responsible for the management of the Dairy Centre in the absence of the Dairy Farm Manager and will be expected to manage Farm staff including completing rota’s, delegating duties and carrying out any relevant training.

Candidates should be qualified to a minimum of HND/BTEC in Agriculture, or have equivalent qualifications plus have work experience in a relevant role. Due to the frequency with which the role holder will drive university vehicles a full current driving licence is essential for this role, unless disability precludes this. Further details on the qualifications and experience required for this role can be found on the Job Role Profile attached to this advert.

In return we offer excellent working conditions, good remuneration and pension package together with regular time off.  Accommodation, close to the dairy centre, village and schools is also available if required.
For informal enquiries please contact Nigel Armstrong, Dairy Centre Manager on 07971322915. Please note that applications sent directly Nigel Armstrong will not be accepted.
