At the University of Bristol Careers Service, we are passionate about helping our students get to where they want to be when they graduate. It’s an exciting place to be, with the Service receiving investment for expansion and the university implementing its new strategy and launching Bristol Futures.

We are looking for people who want to help us as we progress. We are experts in what we do, and we do a lot. Across our teams, our programme involves central delivery as well as faculty and employer engagement. Our activities include running the successful Bristol PLUS Award, delivering a range of curricular and co-curricular sessions in the academic schools, and establishing a new WP mentoring scheme.

We also engage with hundreds of employers each year, both large graduate recruiters (we’re the Second most targeted UK institution by Times Top 100 employers) through our fairs, as well as local SMEs with our SME Internship Scheme and work of our newly-established Enterprise and SME Team.

The Postgraduate Faculty Employability Consultant role works in our respected Faculty Employability Team. You will work across the Careers Service and be responsible for supporting Careers Service staff across different teams in our work with Postgraduate Researchers (PGRs). You will work with the Bristol Doctoral College (BDC) and be responsible for managing the Careers Service's PGR employability support as part of the BDC’s Personal and Professional Development Programme. You will be creative, self-motivated and have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.

You will lead on the central and Faculty provision of PGR employability support and the Service's Employability Partnership Agreement with the BDC. This requires you to interpret and analyse the available data, work with the Faculty Employability Manager and contacts in Faculties and Schools to determine priorities, and use your experience to design and deliver appropriate activities to PGRs.

You will be an excellent communicator who will establish and maintain effective working relationships with academics and other professional services staff to work credibly with them. You will be highly organised with experience of managing your own workload and the different demands that may be placed upon it, whether they be relationship development, delivery of activities to PGRs or other elements of the role.

As a PGR expert within the Service, you will also know how to support and develop the knowledge and capabilities of others and will actively contribute to the Careers Service’s development and success.

If you are looking for a varied role as part of a dynamic team that works with faculties to help students get to where they want to be, get in touch today.

The post full-time and fixed term covering maternity leave from 1st May 2019 until 28th January 2020. The role may be undertaken as a secondment.

For informal enquiries, please contact Dr Bryony Enright, Postgraduate Faculty Employability Consultant: 0117 928 8230 or bryony.enright@bristol.ac.uk

The closing date for applications is 11.59pm on Sunday 24th February 2019.

We appreciate and value difference, seeking to attract, develop and retain a diverse mix of talented people that will contribute to the overall success of Bristol and help maintain our position as one of the world’s leading universities.
