We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to lead DNA banking and genotyping activities in the Bristol Bioresource Laboratories (BBL) and associated Illumina Array Facility based at the University of Bristol (https://www.bristol.ac.uk/population-health-sciences/research/groups/bbl...).

BBL are well renowned laboratories which provide high quality, professional and responsive sample processing, biobanking and array based genotyping services. We work closely with the MRC Integrated Epidemiology Unit and with many cohort studies including the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC) which was named UK Biobank of the Year in 2018.

As the technical expert for DNA banking and genotyping you will provide day to day leadership for DNA based activities and genotyping in the laboratories. This is an outstanding opportunity to play a critical role in delivery of resources which are used for outstanding research projects across the world. You will oversee and ensure high quality of DNA banking and genotyping activities including but not limited to

  1. Collection, processing and banking of genetic material for large cohort studies.
  2. Illumina array based genotyping
  3. Development of new genotyping methodology
  4. Governance of genetic resources for cohort studies.

A related PhD would assist the post holder greatly but is not a requirement of the role. This position is being offered on a full time, open-ended contract.
