Role Description

Cranfield is a world-renowned, specialist postgraduate University, creating leaders in technology and management.

Communications and External Affairs (CEA) is responsible for enhancing and protecting Cranfield’s reputation, engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders and raising awareness of Cranfield’s brand and its distinctiveness. CEA is a dynamic, fast-paced department that is involved in multiple projects across the University. Working in a friendly and lively office, the role holder will be a crucial lynchpin between the various teams that make up CEA.

As a part of the media and external communications team, the role holder is the first point of contact, during office hours, for journalists and plays a vital role in delivering Cranfield University’s media relations strategy.  The role would suit someone with strong organisational skills and a strong interest in the news agenda.

For an informal discussion, please contact Chris Leaman, Head of Communications and Public Affairs on (T); +44 (0)1234 75 8069 or (E); c.leaman@cranfield.ac.uk

At Cranfield we value diversity and inclusion, and aim to create and maintain a culture in which everyone can work and study together harmoniously with dignity and respect and realise their full potential.  We actively consider flexible working options such as part-time, compressed or flexible hours and/or an element of homeworking, and commit to exploring the possibilities for each role.

Company

Cranfield is world-leading in its contribution to global innovation. With our emphasis on the aerospace, agrifood, defence and security, environmental technology, leadership and management, manufacturing and transport systems sectors, we have changed the way society thinks, works and learns.

We generate and transform knowledge, translating it to the benefit of society. Our partners, from micro SMEs to the largest blue-chip multinationals, from governments across the world to NGOs and charities, tell us this is what they value about Cranfield.

Innovation is part of Cranfield’s ‘corporate DNA’, evolved over 60 years of commitment to this agenda.

Our work informs policy for governments and produces new technologies and products for the world of commerce. We draw on this pool of research and consultancy to provide our students with a distinctive ‘real-world’ learning environment, allowing them to develop as professionals and transfer their new knowledge to the global economy. This has always been the ‘Cranfield way’ but it has never been more important than in today’s world.

People are key to our competitive advantage and so we need to attract, develop and retain the best talent for our business. We aim to create a culture where you can flourish and succeed and, in turn, contribute towards Cranfield’s success.
