Nurse Practitioner (NP) Pediatric Neurology
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work with the pediatric epilepsy patient population in the Division of Pediatric Neurology. The NP will see new patients in the complex epilepsy clinic along with faculty, fellows, and residents. The NP will become the primary provider for selected patients with epilepsy. The NP will provide initial clinical intake and education, as well as, continuity and coordination of care for complex epilepsy patients, including those treated with ketogenic diet, epilepsy surgery, vagus nerve stimulator and advanced anticonvulsant medications. Other responsibilities will include: covering return visit clinics for epilepsy faculty, coordination of epilepsy surgery evaluations, vagus nerve stimulator implantations and programming, ketogenic diet initiation and maintenance, development of standardized treatment protocols, coordination of the epilepsy mentor program and attendance at the Refractory Epilepsy Conference and monthly ketogenic team diet team meetings.
Provide timely documentation of all patient care encounters.
Participate in educational meetings within the program, department, and institution.
Participate in program research and quality improvement initiatives.
Establish and maintain a collaborative team approach with all members of the team.
Provide leadership for the accomplishment of efficient, cost effective, high quality patient care.
Demonstrate flexibility to meet demands of patients and families was well as division and department.
Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

Current licensure to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan
Current specialty certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan
Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program as a Pediatric Primary Care or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN)
Demonstrated ability to complete history and physical examination; order appropriate diagnostic studies; synthesize information and make informed clinical decisions; develop appropriate care plans; respond to patient and family preferences and needs.
Demonstrated high level of critical thinking and medical knowledge by using current medical information and scientific evidence for patient care. Ability to to prioritize assignments and mange a busy work environment.
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills organization and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to utilize the medical record for accessing information, recording evaluations and progress notes and for ordering appropriate medication and tests.
Demonstrated experience with the pediatric neurology patient population within the last four years
Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team
