The Position

The University of the South Pacific (USP) is seeking to appoint an exceptional individual as its next Executive Director, People and Workforce Strategy (ED) to bring people-focused, strategic and innovative leadership to the Human Resources portfolio.

Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor and President (VC), the ED will lead a team of 40+ professionals to develop, lead, implement and review HR strategies, policies and practices across the University to deliver on corporate strategic objectives. This position will also provide high-level evidence-based advice to the VC and Senior Management Team in relation to all human resource functions and workforce planning matters.

With relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive HR experience at a senior level, the successful candidate will have the leadership skills to provide a coordinated and client-focused service across all the functional areas of HR, ensuring the currency and compliance of policies and procedures. The appointee will be experienced in the development of workforce planning strategies in response to changes in the delivery of higher education services and the changing demographics of the workforce. Results-focused and values-driven, the ideal candidate will have superior interpersonal skills, excellent analytical, problem-solving and management skills and a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with a broad range of people.

The University of the South Pacific (USP) serves the Pacific Islands region in and through its 14 campuses in 12 Member Countries: Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu, and maintains a strong regional presence.
