A full time Research Associate position is available to support the EPSRC project “Green Recycling and re-manufacturing of Carbon fibre composites for a circular Economy (GRACE)”.
This is a collaborative research project with Shenzhen University and ACC (Beijing) Science and Technology Co Ltd in China. This project will include both experiments (carbon fibre recycling, repolymerisation of resin, continuous yarn fabrication, mechanical property testing and characterisation of reclaimed carbon fibre and composites), numerical modelling of structural performance and life cycle assessment.
Working with the consortium which includes universities and composites manufacturers, your main responsibilities will include undertaking the aforementioned experimental, numerical and analytical research studies, managing a small team of technicians, liaising with the research and industrial partners, and presentation of research findings in various formats (journal papers, conferences, project meetings).
You should have, or about to obtain, a PhD or equivalent in engineering of composites and electrochemistry. Expertise in electrochemical engineering, numerical modelling of composites or life cycle assessment is essential. Experience of programming and conducting tests are desirable. Excellent communication and organisational skills are also required.
