The University of Bristol wishes to appoint a Professor in Health Data Science. You will join a dynamic and successful group within the Department of Population Health Sciences in the University of Bristol Medical School. You work with NHS colleagues at local, regional and national healthcare levels to create and exploit opportunities for research based on routinely collected health and social care data, based on state-of-the-art informatics. The appointment is part of a strategic plan to further strengthen our research excellence in informatics, bioinformatics and data science applied to epidemiological and health services research. We aim to consolidate this expertise and ensure that we are a leading contributor to UK health data science research through, for example, active participation in the NIHR Health Informatics Collaborative and membership of Health Data Research UK.

You should have a strong track record in Data Science applied to health research. We are particularly interested in candidates able to contribute to our priority areas: developing enabling technologies and methods to support data-driven discovery science; using data linkage to enhance public and population health research; and informing clinical decision making through building and evaluating learning health systems. The work will be multi-disciplinary and conducted alongside colleagues affiliated to flagship centres of world-leading research excellence.
