Job description

The School requires a Professional Tutor to provide support for international students and associated duties across the subjects of art, design and fashion.

Duties will include making a contribution to achieving the academic objectives of the School through teaching, tutorial guidance and associated studio based activities. The role is for an academic to teach and aid instruction in projects within the art, design and fashion modules. Administrative duties including development and updating of instruction materials, planning classes with students on a weekly basis through the academic year and advising students in tutorials within the studio on their progress and ways they can improve.

Importantly the candidate must be willing to work as directed across all art, design and fashion courses on both undergraduate and postgraduate modules.

Essentially the applicant will need have attained a good Honours degree and an ability to prepare (or update) all the necessary coursework for delivery, timetabling and provision of teaching. Essential skills are to include:

• Ability to use IT and relevant software packages in the support of teaching and learning.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.
• Proven ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

The role requires the flexibility to provide tutorial support in class when necessary (during occasional periods of sickness cover and during delivery of collaborative projects) across a variety of year groups and across the three disciplines.
