The University of Manchester, invites applications for the post of Research Associate in Health Economics. This is an exciting position to work on the evaluation of a national policy aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles to prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes. This is an excellent opportunity to undertake research on inequalities in access to healthcare.

The role will involve analysing both survey and administrative data to test for inequity across a range of protected characteristics in access to a nationwide diabetes prevention programme. The post is available immediately and will be tenable on a fixed term basis for 12 months in the first instance.

This position is based in the Manchester Centre for Health Economics. You will be line-managed by Dr Will Whittaker, Senior Lecturer in Health Economics. Additional supervision will be provided by Professor Tarani Chandola of Medical Sociology. You will also collaborate with a large multi-disciplinary team.

Candidates will need a postgraduate qualification in either economics/health economics/social statistics/epidemiology with a strong quantitative methods focus and demonstrable experience of applied health research, in particular, using survey and longitudinal biomarker data. A proven track record of publications in high quality journals is desirable. Knowledge of large administrative datasets, together with previous experience of working in a multidisciplinary research team would be advantageous.
