The Department of Computing is looking for an outstanding individual who will make a strong academic contribution to the Dept. You will be joining the Software Engineering and Computer Science group, which is responsible for the delivery of highly regarded degrees at both under- and post-graduate level. The group also has a strong record of success in applied research and knoweldge transfer, with many links to local industry eg through Sheffield Innovation Programme (SIP) and other industry-related projects.

You will be responsible for delivering a high-quality learning environment for students and contributing to the development of new and exciting courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will be expected to be involved in module leadership and delivery, contribute specialist topics to other modules, dissertation supervision, developing the curriculum, industrial liaison as well as the possibility of research. You will join an existing research group in the department and work with colleagues to build both research capacity and deliver impact.

As well as the ability to inspire and motivate students, you'll need well developed and current knowledge understanding of practical and theoretical issues in at least one major area of software engineering and/or computer science. Competence with programming languages such as Python, C++, Java &C# and expertise in one of computer architecture, software testing, cloud development or machine learning is essential. You must also have a PhD in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
