Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning & Teaching)

The University of Sunderland is a successful and ambitious institution with a strong reputation for teaching excellence and applied research.

We have a national and international reach with over 21,000 students based at our campuses in Sunderland, London and Hong Kong, and with international partners in 14 countries across the world.  We are a highly-regarded anchor institution in the North East.  We deliver positive economic and social change for our region by providing the skilled graduates and applied research outcomes that address the needs of industry, business and the public sector. Our academic programmes have a clear focus on employer engagement and personalised academic support, with a growing emphasis on flexible and on-line learning.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor (L&T) will be the University’s champion of the student experience and will be joining the University at an exciting, but equally challenging time, where we are committed to raising aspirations, widening participation, enhancing quality and expanding the horizons of students. The Pro Vice-Chancellor will lead the strategic realisation of this ambition, creating an innovative and inclusive world-class learning environment that advances teaching excellence and enhances graduate employability.

The successful candidate will be passionate about the student experience and demonstrate successes in driving transformational change, innovation and excellence in learning and teaching. Experience of operating as a strategic leader within a higher education environment, with knowledge and insights into the trends and policy developments is essential; as is a commitment to the values and mission of the University of Sunderland.
