Targeting eDNA within biofilms as a prebiotic approach to controlling periodontitis.
We are seeking a talented, highly motivated individual for a postdoctoral Research Associate position within Bristol Dental School at the University of Bristol. You will join an exciting programme of work focused on the role of polymicrobial oral biofilms in health and disease, supervised by Dr Angela Nobbs within the Oral Microbiology group, in collaboration with Dr Mark Jepson (Wolfson Bioimaging Facility) and Dr Nick Jakubovics (Newcastle University).
Specifically, this project will explore the strategy of targeting extracellular DNA (eDNA) within polymicrobial biofilms as an approach to control periodontitis. You will utilise the cutting edge microbiology, molecular biology and imaging facilities available at the University of Bristol on this multidisciplinary programme of work. There will also be frequent engagement with the co-investigator team at Newcastle University. You should have a PhD degree in molecular microbiology/biochemistry.
This post is funded by the Dunhill Medical Trust and is supported for 2 years. Interested applicants are invited to contact Dr Angela Nobbs (angela.nobbs@bristol.ac.uk) for further information or discussion.
We appreciate and value difference, seeking to attract, develop and retain a diverse mix of talented people that will contribute to the overall success of Bristol and help maintain our position as one of the world’s leading universities.
