Job description

The University of Central Lancashire excels in the provision of healthcare programmes. School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences within Faculty of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences has opening at the Research Associate in the area of Nanomedicine and drug delivery. This position is funded by recent industry grant to Professor Kamalinder K Singh who leads the Nanomedicine and Innovative technologies research group within the Faculty of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences.

Her research group develops cutting-edge nanoscale targeted drug delivery technologies to overcome various biological barriers for treatment of range of diseases including cancer, parasitic diseases, infection and biotechnological applications.

In this position you will investigate generation, characterization, and testing of novel nanomedicine products in relevant in vitro cell culture models in accordance with defined milestones, whilst contributing as a team member to a wider research programme. You will lead in the collection, evaluation and interpretation of the research data, in experimental design and performance, and in contributing to attaining project milestones. You will significantly contribute to the advancement of the research area, writing applications for external competitive grants and publish high impact, peer reviewed papers and assist in research dissemination activities. Experience of research in Nanomedicine/Drug delivery/Pharmaceutics/Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related area is therefore essential as is evidence of external esteem.

You will have a PhD (or near completion) in Drug delivery/ Nanomedicine/ Pharmaceutical sciences/ Chemistry/ Materials Science/Cancer biology/Cell Biology or other related field of Biomedical Sciences and an Undergraduate degree in a pharmaceutical science/biological science/chemistry. You should have a strong background in nanoparticle formulation development, targeted nanomedicine and cancer therapeutics research and experience in characterization techniques using a range of pharmaceutical analytical tools and biological and cell assay experiments. You would have substantial expertise both in nanoparticle design and cell culture studies.

Motivated, enthusiastic with attention to detail, you will have the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team to ensure agreed work targets are achieved. Utilising excellent writing skills, you will have publications in peer review journals or similar.
